In New York it’s common to see police officer/bacon/pigs eating doughnuts outside of coffee shops

There are a lot of people that understand the slang and now refer to Police officers as BACON or PIGS.  Wikipedia has the following definition: Bacon: Derived from Pigs: often used in the structure “I smell bacon” to warn of the approaching presence of an officer.  I think this name was created from the fact that a lot of Police officers in NYC (New York City) are spending much of their time in Donut shops like Duncan Doughnuts, scarfing down a lot of junk food like pigs.  Very often you can see marked cruisers parked outside the parking lot of local doughnut shops all throughout New York.  Instead of giving out a New York traffic ticket, these police officers/pigs/bacon just sit on their butts eating donuts and drinking coffee and getting fat.
