It was cold and dark in our basement until we transformed it into a warm and cosy getaway.  You should see it now!  Wall to wall carpeting, a gorgeous gas fireplace and there are real walls - not just bare concrete.   We didn’t have a huge budget, so we wanted to do as much as possible ourselves.  We also wanted to get it right the first time.  If it hadn’t been for the excellent information we found at RemodelingMySpace.com it never would have become the enjoyable space it is today.  The Basement Remodeling & Repair area on their site prepared us with what we needed to know before beginning our renovation adventure.  The section on Fireplaces, Inserts & Woodstoves was very informative and helped us make the decision to go with a high efficiency gas fireplace insert.

Hearthside had a terrific selection and we chose to go with the style that had a lighter wood mantle like the one shown.

We can hardly wait to show it all off when company comes for Christmas!
