Bacon for Okinawa, maybe.

Okinawa Fishing Village I have been thinking of traveling to the Pacific islands. Japan’s as good a place as any, but with their recent decision to fingerprint and record biometric data for travelers entering the country, I am not sure it it’s the place for me to go. There are lots of guides about Okinawa that I have run across online, but two really stick out in my mind. Wikipedia has a great writeup and this Okinawa Travel Guide that I found. Okinawa really is the jewel of Japan. The beautiful coral reefs are nothing like anywhere else in the world with their emerald green colors. And SCUBA diving? It’s one of the best places in the world for SCUBA diving! The weather there is pretty constant also, they say there are only two seasons in Okinawa, summer and a cooler summer. That’s fine with me since I am not real big on the cold weather.

More on Okinawa in a second, but first I have to talk about Tokyo. The megacity now known as Tokyo was originally a small fishing village named Edo. In 1457, Ōta Dōkan built Edo Castle. In 1590, Tokugawa Ieyasu made Edo his base and when he became shogun in 1603, the town became the center of his nationwide military government. This place is huge, and always has been. There’s just something about Tokyo that really draws me in. The character of all of the districts. Places like Harajuku and Akihabara just can’t be found anywhere other than Tokyo. Tokyo really is the mecca of otaku culture. Anime, cosplay, games, maid cafes and more. It’s really like living a dream in Tokyo.

So, it’s either Okinawa or Tokyo for my Pacific travel adventure. Well, the good thing is that I won’t go wrong with either place, since there are beautiful Japanese women at both!
